Short Thoughts - Omid57 Omid Jamshidi

For the past few days, I have felt an overwhelming urge to find a quiet corner and simply cry. The images and videos emerging from Iran are agonizing; they are enough to bring any human being to tears.

I cannot erase the image of that father from my mind—searching through hundreds of lifeless bodies for his son, crying out: “Sepehr… Sepehr, my son, where are you? Papa is here… where are you, my boy?” These haunting scenes stay with me, making it impossible to find peace or sleep at night.

With reports stating the death toll has surpassed 30,000, this is nothing less than a crime against humanity. My only hope is that this dark era comes to an end as soon as possible.

I posted a short video on my Telegram channel today that has left me shattered. Since watching it, I haven’t been able to think straight.

It depicts the heartbreaking scene of a mother who, driven by poverty and hunger, took her own life and the lives of her three children.

This happened in a country rich with oil, while its politicians squander the people’s wealth on multi-billion dollar villas in Europe and America.

If you cannot bear such intense sorrow, please do not watch it. This video is absolutely not recommended for the elderly or those with heart conditions.

The world has reached a point where I no longer fight for justice, as it has become impossible. Now, I only fight to ensure that injustice, at the very least, is distributed equally among everyone.

Today marks the fourth day of Iranians taking to the streets to fight for their fundamental rights. Given the history of brutal suppression over the past decades, I sincerely hope to see the people of Iran celebrating their freedom very soon.

I would like to reiterate that I do not belong to any political group. Quite frankly, I have little faith in two groups: the clergy and politicians, as both often thrive on the hard work of others.

Regarding Mr. Reza Pahlavi, who is frequently discussed these days: while he may be a kind person, a good father, or a loyal friend, I personally do not see him as an effective political leader. Unfortunately, over the last fifty years, those with the potential to lead the country have either been assassinated, passed away, or no longer possess the necessary strength. Consequently, he remains the only visible option—not necessarily because he is the ideal choice, but because there is a lack of alternatives.

Ultimately, everyone is entitled to their own perspective, and every opinion deserves respect. However, the final decision lies with the people on the ground; they are the ones who will decide whom to support and to whom they will entrust the future of the country.

Happy New Year. Let us strive to make this year more than just a passage of time, but a steadfast step towards a fairer world. May this be the year where the fight against poverty and corruption transforms from words into reality, and equality becomes a fundamental right for all. Here is to a future where human dignity flourishes under the shadow of justice.

Today, I witnessed a short film where a young man was beating his elderly father with horrifying brutality. It is utterly irrelevant in which country this video was recorded; but my soul ached for the son who had never tasted the true meaning of love and affection.

Likewise, I felt profound pity for the father who never grasped the deep, indescribable joy of showing love and compassion to his child. Both are innocent victims of a society that sows the seeds of violence and hatred, and this poison, regrettably, seeps from one generation to the next.

We MUST shatter this nefarious chain right now! Let us not forget: Our children are the very ones who, in our twilight years, will choose the location of our nursing home.

I think even if injustice actually hurt, some folks would just pop an aspirin and keep going.

Today, many innocent people around the world are being oppressed and even killed simply for protesting against the lack of basic human rights.

Personally, I do not wish to share false or misleading information on this website. Therefore, from time to time, I commemorate and publish the memory of those who lost their lives in Iran, brutally killed merely for raising their voices in protest for freedom.

Since Iran is my homeland and I can personally verify the accuracy of related information, I only publish the names of Iranian victims.

However, if you would like the names of other freedom martyrs from different countries to be included here, you may share their details with me through the “Contact Us” section. After verification, they will be published on this website.

Before his execution, Majid Kavousifar had sought asylum at the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi. However, after listening to his request, the embassy officials handed him over to the Emirati police, who returned him to Iran. Once back in Iran, he was executed.

At the moment of his death, with a smile on his face and his hands tied, he waved to the crowd that had gathered to witness the execution. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory live on forever.

I worked with Jamshid for many years, and despite all our political differences, we were good friends. I still feel his absence deeply and miss him a lot. May his soul rest in peace and his memory live on forever.

It is interesting that in today’s world, the countries producing and selling the most weapons of mass destruction are often the very ones that claim to champion human rights the loudest.

I wish I could hand over my life to someone for a while and say, “For some time, continue in my place.”

When the lawmaker breaks the law, the citizen stays silent.

It is deeply painful to witness a law enforcement officer violating the law, and even more so when you cannot protest, for they wield authority while you are just an ordinary citizen.

There is a Persian proverb that says:
“Politics has no parents.”
In my opinion, the same can be said about many politicians.

It’s almost like a joke when the UN says it fights against racism, yet a country with veto power can make the opinions of all other countries irrelevant.

Nowhere in the world are children taught the constitution, because they’re afraid that people will understand their rights too early.

One of the pains of my life is that I live in a time when slavery is prohibited in every country in the world, and yet there are still people who believe that a book in which slavery is allowed is the word of God.

The Holy Quran

  • Surah Muhammad 4: “So when you meet those who disbelieve [in battle], strike their necks until you have subdued them; then bind them firmly. Afterwards, either release them as an act of grace or for ransom…”
  • Surah An-Nur 24:33: “And those of your slaves who seek a contract of emancipation—grant it to them if you recognize good in them, and give them from the wealth of Allah which He has bestowed upon you…”

The Bible (New Testament)

  • Ephesians 6:5: “Slaves, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as you would Christ.”
  • Colossians 3:22: “Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; not by way of eye-service, as people-pleasers, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord.”

The Torah (Old Testament / Tanakh)

  • Exodus 21:2: “If you buy a Hebrew servant, he shall serve six years; but in the seventh year he shall go free without paying anything.”
  • Leviticus 25:44–46: “As for your male and female slaves whom you may have—you may acquire male and female slaves from the nations around you. You may also leave them as an inheritance to your children after you, to possess as a permanent possession.”
